Welcome to an art project which I call Unearthed. First I thought about what unearthed meant, and my definition was:
PHYSYCAL: To remove an object previously covered by soil, sand, or rocks.
METAPHORICAL: To find new information previously hidden or kept secret.
Then we went down the garden and started to dig a hole in the soil. This took a while, but we managed to find bits of broken pots, a brick, and what looked like coal. We used the clay like mud and took it all to the house to begin.
I wanted it to look like a block of earth was taken out of the ground with pieces of pottery and rock sticking out. I used old rusty nails and springs in my creation.
I was trying to make you feel curious and intrigued with the design and to really think about what the objects are and what they were before. Here is the finished piece:

A great start to this project Ez. I’m really interested to see how you develop this idea. Hidden objects definitely generates curiosity and anticipation. Well done.
