Revolting Rhyme – The Ugly Duckling

There once was a duck and her ducklings,
who went on holiday to Butlins.
Three of the ducklings had lots of fun
playing and jumping in the sun.
But one of them was always sad,
because they told him that he looked bad.
Three had bright feathers and were very sleek,
but one was quite grey with a brownish beak.
The camp had a beauty contest and he sighed in shame.
His brothers laughed because he looked lame.
Little did they know on the day of the show
the ugly duckling was starting to grow.
First his legs and then his wings,
and then all his other fantabulous things.
The three brothers were fairly sure
as they walked through the back stage door,
that one of them would win first prize,
because they were such handsome guys.
All in silence not a single word,
because standing there was not an ugly duckling, but the roly poly bird!

  1. A fantabulous fusion of fairy tale and Dahl! I loved the twist of the beauty contest at Butlins! You chose some excellent vocabulary to make sure your rhyme flowed and rhymed. I really enjoyed reading your work.

  2. please everyone can they save the cats! They are stuck in poverty and though you may not know, they are used for drug testing in laboratories
    SAVE THE CATS!!!
