Pumpkins

Today, I carved pumpkins for Halloween. 2 big, 2 small.

Here is how to carve a pumpkin:

  1. Plan your design using pencil and paper, that way you can change your mind if you don’t like it.
  2. Cut a hole in the top of the pumpkin, round the stem, but do it slanted so it doesn’t fall in when you put the lid back on.
  3. Hollow out the pumpkin, using a knife and a spoon, remove all of the soft and fluffy flesh from the inside.
  4. Cut out your eye but leave one corner so it looks like it has a pupil. In the corner with the pupil remove the surface layer.
  5. Cut the other eye to match, or not if you prefer.
  6. Cut the mouth.

Once you have carved your pumpkin you can personalise it some more, e.g you could put a hat on his head or alternatively put a bow on his stump!

Finally you can put a candle inside the pumpkin, and light it on halloween to make it look spooky!
