Today, I carved pumpkins for Halloween. 2 big, 2 small.
Here is how to carve a pumpkin:
- Plan your design using pencil and paper, that way you can change your mind if you don’t like it.
- Cut a hole in the top of the pumpkin, round the stem, but do it slanted so it doesn’t fall in when you put the lid back on.
- Hollow out the pumpkin, using a knife and a spoon, remove all of the soft and fluffy flesh from the inside.
- Cut out your eye but leave one corner so it looks like it has a pupil. In the corner with the pupil remove the surface layer.
- Cut the other eye to match, or not if you prefer.
- Cut the mouth.
Once you have carved your pumpkin you can personalise it some more, e.g you could put a hat on his head or alternatively put a bow on his stump!
Finally you can put a candle inside the pumpkin, and light it on halloween to make it look spooky!
